A Theoretical Study of Deflection of AFM Bimaterial Cantilevers Versus Irradiated Position

    Get PDF
The bimaterial cantilevers of atomic force microscopes have been widely used in chemical and bio-sensing. Due to the difference in the thermal expansion coefficients of the two layers, the cantilever is deflected and its deflections is dependent on the heat absorption from the ambient environment or the objects adsorbed on the cantilever surface. In this study, we theoretically examine the deflection of this cantilever considering different irradiated configurations of a laser beam and thicknesses of the coating layer. We show that the temperature difference between the end and the clamped position is maximized for an irradiation at the cantilever end and this difference reduces with increasing coating thickness. Especially, the maximal deflection is seen for an irradiation in the middle of the cantilever, around 0.6 of the cantilever length from the clamped position. The obtained results could help determining an irradiated configuration of laser and the coating thickness to optimize the sensitivity of the cantilevers in thermally sensing devices

Justicia social en Vietnam: Perspectiva y práctica

    Get PDF

CHARACTERIZATION AND ADSORPTION CAPACITY OF AMINE-SIO2 MATERIAL FOR NITRATE AND PHOSPHATE REMOVAL

    Get PDF
Amine-SiO2 material was synthesized and applied as a novel adsorbent for nitrate and phosphate removal from aqueous solution. The characterization of Amine-SiO2 were done by using TGA, FTIR, BET, and SEM analyses. Results showed that Amine-SiO2 had higher nitrate and phosphate adsorption capacity of 1.14 and 4.16 times, respectively, than commercial anion exchange resin (Akualite A420). In addition, Amine-SiO2 also had good durability with stable performance after at least 10 regeneration times, indicating that this material is very promising for commercialization in the future as an adsorbent for water treatment

Achieving Better Regret against Strategic Adversaries

We study online learning problems in which the learner has extra knowledge about the adversary's behaviour, i.e., in game-theoretic settings where opponents typically follow some no-external regret learning algorithms. Under this assumption, we propose two new online learning algorithms, Accurate Follow the Regularized Leader (AFTRL) and Prod-Best Response (Prod-BR), that intensively exploit this extra knowledge while maintaining the no-regret property in the worst-case scenario of having inaccurate extra information. Specifically, AFTRL achieves O(1)O(1) external regret or O(1)O(1) \emph{forward regret} against no-external regret adversary in comparison with O(T)O(\sqrt{T}) \emph{dynamic regret} of Prod-BR. To the best of our knowledge, our algorithm is the first to consider forward regret that achieves O(1)O(1) regret against strategic adversaries. When playing zero-sum games with Accurate Multiplicative Weights Update (AMWU), a special case of AFTRL, we achieve \emph{last round convergence} to the Nash Equilibrium. We also provide numerical experiments to further support our theoretical results. In particular, we demonstrate that our methods achieve significantly better regret bounds and rate of last round convergence, compared to the state of the art (e.g., Multiplicative Weights Update (MWU) and its optimistic counterpart, OMWU)

Last Round Convergence and No-Instant Regret in Repeated Games with Asymmetric Information

This paper considers repeated games in which one player has more information about the game than the other players. In particular, we investigate repeated two-player zero-sum games where only the column player knows the payoff matrix A of the game. Suppose that while repeatedly playing this game, the row player chooses her strategy at each round by using a no-regret algorithm to minimize her (pseudo) regret. We develop a no-instant-regret algorithm for the column player to exhibit last round convergence to a minimax equilibrium. We show that our algorithm is efficient against a large set of popular no-regret algorithms of the row player, including the multiplicative weight update algorithm, the online mirror descent method/follow-the-regularized-leader, the linear multiplicative weight update algorithm, and the optimistic multiplicative weight update

DARK SOIL PITS AND GRAVES IN VOLCANIC CAVE C6.1, KRONG NO, DAK NONG PROVINCE: DOCUMENTATION AND DISCUSSION

    Get PDF
Dark soil pits and graves are critical documents discovered in volcanic cave C6.1. As a result of the investigation and excavation of cave C6.1 conducted in 2017, 2018, and 2019, we have discovered vestiges of nine dark soil pits and seven relatively intact graves, together with teeth and other human remains scattered in the cultural layer. This is an important source of information on the racial composition of the prehistoric inhabitants of the Central Highlands during the Neolithic period, as well as the paleoenvironment, environmental adaptations, and flora and fauna that prehistoric inhabitants exploited for their livelihoods. This article introduces documents and reconstructs the socioeconomic picture of the prehistoric inhabitants of cave C6.1. It also contributes scientific documents for the general conservation and promotion of heritage to develop sustainable cultural tourism in Dak Nong Province

    Get PDF
World agriculture still faces challenges quite fundamental, it is about the quality issues and the increasing of competitiveness through productivity and the eficiency. This research focused on the criteria of best tomato types and how to apply the Simple Additive weighting method (SAW) into a Decision Support System (DSS) for election best quality tomato that can assist farmers in determining the best type of tomato for renewable energy and supply chain strategy, based on the criteria that have been chosen, such as: tomato size, tomato color, tomato shape and tomato disease. By using the application of Simple Additive weighting method into Decision Support Systems value, it can be concluded that V5 is the best quality tomato and has a predicate value of 83.75 with the fragile values, as follows: 50-69 = Enough, 70-82 = Good, 83-100 = Best

Covid-19 vaccines production and societal immunization under the serendipity-mindsponge-3D knowledge management theory and conceptual framework

Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), tremendous efforts have been made by scientists, health professionals, business people, politicians, and laypeople around the world. Covid-19 vaccines are one of the most crucial innovations that help fight against the virus. This paper attempts to revisit the Covid-19 vaccines production process by employing the serendipity-mindsponge-3D creativity management theory. Vaccine production can be considered an information process and classified into three main stages. The first stage involved the processes of absorbing information (e.g., digital data and open science) and rejecting unhelpful information (e.g., misinformation and fake news) for effectively acquiring useful insights. Useful insights were later employed by experts, enterprises, governments, and international organizations through interdisciplinary coordinated efforts for developing vaccines within a short period. Finally, the appearance of multiple types of vaccines enabled more strategic options for vaccine distribution and administration. Findings from this vaccine creativity management process could be used as critical lessons for further improvements of vaccination programs
